Who can apply?

Bright, young girls with a record of academic excellence, confident of getting admission in India’s best science colleges, can apply as soon as they complete their Class XII examinations.

Only students who opt to study pure/natural science courses for their graduation are eligible for this scholarship.

Preference will be given to students with rural backgrounds, economically weak backgrounds and  interest in scientific research.

IMPORTANT: The scholarship will be given only to students who have confirmed admissions to any of the colleges listed.

Application Process


Fill application and submit documents (01 April 2018 onwards)

Select institution/s

Submit admission offer from any one institution (by 15 Aug 2018)

Wait for selection confirmation email

Scholarship Registrations will begin on 01 April 2018.

The last date for application submission will be 15 Aug 2018, by which time all the listed colleges will have announced their final list of admissions. You need to have a confirmed admission offer in any one of the colleges. Admission slips will need to be submitted.

Dr. Rita John is Professor and Head, Department of Theoretical Physics, University of Madras, Chennai, India. She is Visiting Professor on Fulbright Fellowship at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas, USA (2014). Her area of research includes Computational/Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, Band Gap Engineering, Quantum Confinements in Nano Materials, Smart Materials for Bio Medical and Space Applications. She has been a member of Administrative, Academic, Selection, Research committees and various International and National Professional bodies. She is a resource person for the Mentoring workshop for applying to various fellowships of United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) and Evaluator for the Fulbright Senior Award and Junior Advanced Research Award for two foreign countries
